We recently partnered with a major skin care retailer to plan their yearly Annual Sales Retreats. These special events were scheduled as roadshows throughout the south and were performed every 2 weeks. The goal was to ensure new sales associates were thoroughly educated in the product lines and understood the unique value their product offered. It also provided a platform to share innovations within the product line, merchandising displays through the photo gallery, and any new corporate policy updates as needed. There were typically 150 associates attending each of these two day retreats held at local resorts.
The organizers used the mobile event app to allow each user to create their personalized agendas and indicate the interest in topics presented at the rotating events. By utilizing the data they gathered from the user’s agendas, they were able to assign specific round robin sessions elaborating on the topics that received high interest. These were sessions led by the Senior Management to offer an additional one on one approach to a specialized topic and ensure consistency in product knowledge across all associates.
In addition to leveraging the training schedules and courses within each retreat, the app served as a platform to introduce new members and celebrate associate’s milestones. The event organizers kicked off each of their events with an introduction of new employees and a toast to associates celebrating years of service. The mobile event app served as a tool for associates and allowed for each to provide a personalized history to their success at the company or a brief background of their credentials and how they came to join the organization. This laid the foundation for increased engagement and camaraderie amongst the associates in a secured environment.
From a planning perspective, the mobile event app gave planners insight into audience interest and allowed them to tailor the curriculum to their needs and deliver a relevant and informative presentation. The app also forged friendships and a new familiarity to all users of the app as an added engagement tool. To encourage the use of the app between the retreats, the company provides access to HR videos, tutorials and offers a Q&A section through the app, enabling their employees to remain connected to important resources at all times.
