Home Icons

Home Icons

The ‘Home Icons’ section allows you to manage how icons or images are displayed on the main home screen. Allowing you to set:

Show / Hide Icon

The Show / Hide option allows you to control the visibility of a button (Icon OR Image) on the home screen and slide out. When an Icon is set to hidden users will not be able to navigate to this section.

TIP: This can be a great way to ‘Pre-Define’ a section for display later on during an event. Things like event surveys, or key-note speakers may be hidden until you wish to show them later on during an event

Lock / Unlock Icon

The Lock / Unlock Icon is used in tandem with the ‘Require Users Registration’ OR ‘Require User Check-In’ When either of these options are set to ‘Yes’ a ‘Lock’ icon will appear next to the show / hide Icon.

When this option is set to ‘Locked’ any attempt to access the section will be prompted to validate or register in the app ( Depending on the selected setting under app configurations > settings > App Users)

Note:An unverified attendee is an attendee who has not validated themselves in the app, using an attendee PIN

Section Linked To

The section linked to section will dictate where a button will link or map to in the app.

The drop down contains the following sections:

Agenda section

The agenda section will map to a ‘By Day’ type view in the app, first listing out a clickable day listing of all sessions. Tapping the day will then navigate to a full listing of each session on that day

Tip: When adding sessions you may wish to not display ‘Track’ sessions as it can get fairly long. ConBop offers and options under App configuration > Settings > Show Track in session listing



When set to Amenity, this will link to a listing of all your amenities. Amenities are grouped by amenity type, displaying an expandable list of all amenities



When set to Attendee, this section will link to the attendee section. Showing a mapping of all attendees in the system

Note: When viewing the attendee section, any ‘Attendee Groups’ in the system will be displayed under a grouping tap. This tiltle is configurable under Attendees > Manage Attendee Groups



When set to Board, this section will link to a message board or forum, giving you attendees the option to post topics and or pictures to the message board. Additionally users can reply to a post

Note: You can manage the messages from the back-end by navigating to the Message Board section



When set to Exhibitor, this section will link to all exhibitors at the event. The listing of exhibitors will be listed alphabetically.



When set to File, a URL box will be displayed. This box allows you to link out to a file, conversely you may also wish to link to a URL as well.

Tip: If you wish to link to a PDF file, you may want to take advantage of the PDF viewer link provided by the ConBop system. This viewer link will allow PDFs to be viewed without the need for a PDF viewer on the device. This URL can be found when uploading an PDF under the ‘File’ section


When set to Maps, the section will link to a listing of all uploaded maps.



When set to Photos, this section will link to a photo gallery in the app. The photo gallery has 3 different options for display

  • Carousel
  • Grid
  • Card

Each on giving a unique look and feel. From this section attendees will also be able to add photos as well.

Tip: When the photo gallery type is set to ‘Card’ it will give attendees the option to ‘Like’ and ‘Comment’ on photos.


QR Code

When set to QR Code, this will trigger the app to open the QR or Bar-code scanner, allowing attendees to scan QR codes in the app

Note: The app also has a default ‘Scan’ button on the bottom tool-bar that will also trigger the QR scanner.



When set to RSS, the app will navigate to a screen that will access any valid RSS feed. In the app it will list out all RSS items, and tapping on the element will bring you to a detail page for the RSS element with an additional ‘More’ button that is mapped to the URL of the RSS item.

Note: When inputting an RSS feed, make sure it is https


Section Set

When set to section set a modal window will be displayed giving you the option to directly link to any section or item in the app.

An example might be linking directly to a ‘Key Note’ Speaker. This can be done by simply section ‘Section Set’ and selecting ‘Speakers’ then the speaker you wish to link to

When a users taps on this button they will now be taken directly to the details of that Item.

Note: You can also directly link to ‘Sections’ like ‘Tracks’ OR ‘Attendee Groups’


When set to Sessions, the app will link to a full alphabetical listing of your sessions.

Note: If you wish to have the sessions listed out by date you should use the ‘Agenda’ type



When set to Social, the app will link to a twitter feed of your choosing. The feed can be a hash or a public twitter account.

Tip: If you wish to map to other social accounts, its best to use the  ‘URL’ or ‘File’ type and place the URL to the social website inside the URL box. 



When set to Speaker, the app will link to a full alphabetical listing of your speakers.



When set to Sponsors, the app will link to the full listing of your sponsors. Sponsors will be listed out according to their sponsor category and category order set under the sponsor section.



When set to Survey a new option will be displayed, allowing you to select any ‘Stand Alone Survey’ to map to


Note: For surveys to show up you must have created a stand a lone survey, surveys mapped to sessions will not be displayed



When set to Tracks, the app will link to a listing of all tracks, giving the attendee the option to select a specific track and show what sessions are categorized under that track.

Note: You can add multiple tracks to a sessions for deeper linking



When set to URL, the app will attempt to open the URL in an in-app-browser. Giving a seamless look in your app.

Note: The URL must be https for the in-app-browser to function properly. If a non https URL is provided the URL selection will operate similar to the ‘File’ option, opening a browser on the device.



When set to Video, the app will use your devices built in video player to play any MP4 video file.

Note: The file format must be in the mp4 format and should be using HTTPs as t he protocol. 

Tip: Video file should be a reasonable file size, its important to remember you attendees may be on data caps and large files can eat away at this for some users


Display Text

The display text section allows you to change the display text of the icon or image. When home icons is set to ‘Icon’ a limit of 10 characters will be set on the display text. This is done to maintain a consistent look across all devices.

When the home icon is set to ‘Images’ the text limit is set to 25 characters and will wrap in the actual image.  Its important to note that even when set to ‘Image’ the icons are still used for the “slideout’ menu.

Tip: If you wish to have the text not display, you can format the display text as ‘hidden~displayText’ this will hide the display text on an image but show the ‘display text’ in the slide out menu.


Button Access

The button access section allows you to ‘hide’ sections depending on a VIP ID.

If a VIP ID is set, it will display in the drop-down. Setting a specific button access type to the specific login ID will only show the button when that event ID is used, allowing you to have different icons depending on ID.



The color section allows you to set the color of an icon. When clicking on in the color box, a color selector will be displayed, allowing you to select any RGB color for your button

Tip: You can also use any HEX color code and simply paste in that number to change the color
