Competitions, demonstrations and awards have a long history at conferences. Most delegates are connected in some way, shape or form to colleagues, vendors, or just industry in general. Conferences are the natural platform for acknowledging the up-and-coming or honoring the veteran that paved the way. With an industry wide attendance, it also gives you the audience to make a big splash.
At a recent event, the hosts incorporated a unique exhibit by local artists that were rated using the mobile event app. The Event Host had commissioned the students at a local Art School to submit their best work and professionally displayed the works throughout the meeting space. The incentive for submitting works was a chance at a scholarship to the artist with the most votes. In addition to the opportunity to display their works, the students had the chance to make formal presentations on their pieces as well.
The organizers used the photo gallery in the mobile event app as an additional option to view and read about the projects. Additionally, they included biographies and background information on each of the artists to help tell their stories. The event was capped off with presentations by the artists followed by a Q&A with the audience.
In the end, leveraging the mobile event app to coordinate the local artist’s exhibit program proved a huge success. It provided a platform for a way to get the community involved and provide a fun interactive activity for the group. Of course, the community and local press loved the fact that they were giving back and supplying young artists with scholarship opportunities as well.
